Acciaroli – for us it is one of the most beautiful fishing villages along the Cilento’s 100 km of coastline. To stop by this charming place during your holidays is absolutely worthwhile. Should a daytrip to Acciaroli seem too short for you, then do consider staying at Casa La Greca for a while.
The small B&B with its two guest rooms, library and breakfast garden is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic village center, of the beach and of the inviting seaside promenade at the fishing harbor. You do not need a car when staying at Casa La Greca. The sea, restaurants, stores and the best ice cream parlor in the Cilento are within very easy walking distance.
B&B Casa La Greca is found in a historic, three-storey Cilentan residential building. The two guest rooms Limone and Arancio are located on the first floor of this building with a quarry stone façade so typical for Acciaroli. The rooms have been completely renovated and are very spaciously laid-out (ca. 25 m²), they have got high ceilings and a French balcony facing the accommodation’s front yard.
Each room accommodates up to three persons. It is furnished with a double bed, an additional bed can be provided. Furnishing also includes Sat-TV, W-LAN, heating and air conditioning. The private bathroom of each room is equipped with a modern shower cabin, WC and bidet. Guest room Limone opens upon a direct view of the jetty at the harbor and the sea.
Young and very hospitable owner Matteo provides his guests with a breakfast basket every day. A coffee machine, a water boiler and a small refrigerator are also found in the rooms. You can enjoy your breakfast either in your room or take your caffè and make yourself comfortable under the medlar in the front yard.
Do you prefer breakfast all’italiana? Then stop by one of the nearby bars and take your choice of fragrant cornetti with cream, chocolate or jam filling. There is a very friendly bar called Il Muletto only 50 m from your accommodation, for example.
On the ground floor, to the right after entering the building, there is the private library of Casa La Greca. Matteo’s father Amedeo, a passionate and well-known historian and chronicler, has written quite a number of books about the history and the stories related to Acciaroli. The roundabout 3,000 books in the library, the professor’s former study, include his complete research works on the culture and traditions of the Cilento.
Obviously, you hardly get round literature at Acciaroli. It was as a soldier that famous Ernest Hemingway came to the then still sleepy fishing village in the Cilento for the first time. In the 50ies he returned to Acciaroli and – as people say – found not only a friend, but his inspiration for the story “The Old Man and the Sea” in fisherman Zio Antonio.
What we have found at Acciaroli is the best ice cream of the Cilento. In order to get a taste of the delicious, award-winning creations, you need only take a short walk to the harbor. At bar-gelateria-pasticceria Meeting a sweet, inviting and tempting paradise of ice cream, cornetti, cakes, pastries and more opens up before you. Stopping by the bar in the morning for a quick Italian breakfast at the seaside is also worthwhile.
In the evenings there is no lack of culinary delights at Acciaroli either. Traditional seafood cuisine in modern atmosphere is found, for example, at Ristorante Il Rosso e il Mare right in the center.
Another recommendation is Boccaccio, which is located right at the seaside promenade to the north of the center. In general, Boccaccio is also open for lunch. Gorgeous sandy beach Spiaggia Grande is located in the immediate vicinity and there is hardly a more beautiful place in Acciaroli for an after-dinner stroll.
