Signora Brienza traveled from the Basilicata region to meet us and to show us, not without a certain pride, around her ca. 3,000 m² property at Capitello on the Gulf of Policastro. 'At the feet' of the well-tended house lies the ca. 15 m x 7 m pool. And beyond, you see the Lucania and Calabria mountain tops, beautifully silhouetted against the sky.
The thought of how wonderful it must be to spend holidays here springs to mind immediately. You can go for a swim in the pool after getting up in the morning, then have breakfast on the roofed terrace and enjoy the view of the mountains and the sea. The kids can romp around in the garden before it is time to leave for one of the beautiful sandy beaches of Villammare.
The coastal section between Scario and Maratea still counts among the insiders’ tips for relaxing bathing and nature holidays in Southern Italy. The winding coastal road to Maratea with steeply sloping cliffs high above the sea even reminds you of the Amalfitana.
With its altogether four bedrooms, the ca. 85 m² holiday home offers a lot of space for family and friends. The bedrooms (three with double beds, one with single beds) as well as two bathrooms (each with shower, WC; one with additional bidet) are located in the back part of the house.
The open kitchen and the cozy living area in the front part of the house offer plenty of comfort for relaxing holidays at the seaside. The masonry kitchenette includes, amongst others, a dish washer, a gas stove and an oven. The refrigerator with freezer compartment and the washing machine are found in an adjoining small store-room.
The kitchen opens onto one of the roofed terraces, which is furnished with a large solid wooden table and three wooden benches. You might gather there at mealtimes or for a barbecue evening and at the same time enjoy the view of the well-tended Mediterranean garden.
The living room with its elegant furnishing, wood beamed ceiling, solid wooden furniture, sofa, two chairs and TV faces the sea, which is only ca. 400 m off. Via a small terrace you reach the pool area with diving board, sun beds and outdoor shower.
The furnished and roofed terrace in front of the house offers pleasant shade and a good view of what is going on in the pool area as well as of the Gulf of Policastro.
The premises of Villa Brienza are completely fenced. Parking (max. 3 cars) is available right at the house. There is a small dependance on the premises, which, however, remains vacant during your stay.
The villa has a roof terrace where family Brienza normally hung up the washing.
Villa Brienza includes air conditioning with heating system.
Shopping facilities, restaurants and bars are found about 1 km from Villa Brienza. It is a ca. 400 m walk to the beach of Capitello, the nearest beach where you can go for a swim in the sea. Longer sandy beaches are found at Villammare. The small coastal town with its lovely seaside promenade and good fish restaurants is about 3 km from your holiday home.
Should you be looking for some physical challenge during your stay, then you might explore the coastal road to Maratea by bike. There is a bike rental at Sapri. Surely worth your while if you want to do some walking or hiking are Monte Bulgheria near Scario and the Statue of Christ above Maratea, the latter a great experience for children, too.

At Sapri you can rent cars, scooters, bikes and boats.
