The art of beautiful living

It is a rather inconspicuous hiking trail which runs through the Cilento’s evergreen vegetation from San Marco’s harbor to Punta Licosa. After only a few hundred meters, however, the dense foliage opens up and you meet with a breathtaking view of the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea.  

In the distance, bathed in golden brown, the medieval town of Castellabate sits enthroned on a hilltop; sprawling at its feet, lies the picturesque small harbor of San Marco di Castellabate.   

It is in this gorgeous place directly at the seaside that you find Villino del Artista.

With a quarry stone façade typical for the region, it blends into the landscape rather unspectacularly, at first sight; however, the row of large windows running the length of the house and offering a spectacular view of the sea from every room gives it a sophisticated touch.

Stylish, expressive paintings combined with furnishing which unites elegance and comfort top off this impression. Oriental ceramic tiles on the terrace add a mystic touch.

Somewhat apart from town, surrounded by sea and nature, you can enjoy relaxed holidays at Villino del Artista.

The rooms are large and bright and radiate an airy and elegant atmosphere.

The living-/dining room takes in the largest part of the house. From here, you access the modern kitchen as well as the adjacent double bedroom with en suite bathroom. From this bedroom, you enter the other double with en suite bathroom.

From the living room as well as from the two bedrooms, large glass sliding doors open onto the spacious terrace. 

Outdoor area

The gorgeous seating area with its Moroccan wall tiles is roofed and lies sheltered near the entrance to the house.

Two sunbeds invite you to give in to pleasant idleness under the southern Italian sun.

From the terrace, a small stairway runs down to your private bathing bay; in summer, only a few divers might 'drift' there.  

Furnishing

Villino del Artista offers all kinds of comfort. Besides a washing machine, an outdoor shower and a grill are at your disposal.

The kitchen is equipped with 4-burner gas stove, oven, refrigerator with freezer compartment and even dish washer.

There is a fireside in the living room, although, on cool days, you need only turn on the central heating.

Parking is available on the fenced premises.

Surroundings

The picturesque fishing village of San Marco di Castellabate is at a walking distance of 500 m. There, you find bars, restaurants and stores.

To go swimming, you need only descend the 80 steps from your terrace to the sea.

Tips for excursions

Do follow the hiking trail 'at your doorstep' which takes you right to the Cape of Sirens – the westernmost point of the Cilento coast.

That is where the Gulf of Salerno ends and where you find the offshore island of Isola di Licosa.   

Legend has it that Siren Leucosia, disappointed by the fact that Odysseus escaped her enchanting songs by using a clever trick, sought death in the sea there.  

Besides, don’t miss out on stopping by the medieval mountain village of Castellabate. Here, time seems to have been standing still: narrow alleys, picturesque squares, back courtyards full of secrets and enchanted gardens mark the townscape.
