Cycling in the Cilento – tips by our guests

"For us, the Cilento is, without doubt, a better choice than Majorca." In the course of the last 18 years, Andreas Heinbokel, amateur cyclist from Murr, has been on various bike tours, either alone or accompanied by someone, in the area around Marina di Camerota. He has been so kind as to pass on his experiences and tips to the customers of Cilentano:

Roads very suitable for racing bikes

"In general, you can count on being able to cycle at an average of about 16 – 20 km/h (as an amateur cyclist) at the beginning of the cycling season (March) in the Cilento, which the Giro d’Italia often passes through.

Almost everywhere, the roads are very suitable for racing bikes. In most cases, a car blows its horn shortly once before overtaking. Then you should just keep on cycling like before without swerving. Be careful in bends, there might suddenly be a goat or a cow in your way. Do not forget to take along a waistcoat, cardigan or the like (for the descents) and enough water to drink."

Always enough to see

Basically, all the tours are very nice. You never go just cycling, there is always enough to see and to admire. That is why only the most important things are given a short mention in the tour descriptions. The maps recommended by Andreas Heinbokel are by Marco Polo or Shell (identical).
