Spend some time-out in the Cilento, live the way the locals do at Sofia's holiday apartment in the "vicoli", the alleys, of Pisciotta. The entrance to La Casa nei Vicoli lies hidden in an inner courtyard, not far from the small church of Dell'Assunta. The incredibly beautiful panorama of the sea from friendly Sofia's apartment is one of a kind.
With a double bedroom, a cozy living room, a spacious kitchen and a large bathroom with both bathtub and shower cabin the holiday apartment is an ideal accommodation for 2 persons/a couple.
The kitchen is well appointed; a washing machine, a wash basin for your hand wash and a lot of space for storage are found in a separate laundry room. The living room with sofa and solid wooden furnishing is separated from the bedroom by a not quite ceiling-heigh wall, which lets daylight into the former.
The kitchen and the bedroom open onto the narrow sea view balcony, from where your gaze roams as far as the Cape of Palinuro. The balcony is furnished with a table and two chairs and can be shaded by a parasol.
Mention must be made of the fact that there are often several steps between the rooms of the apartment. La Casa nei Vicoli is therefore not recommended for persons with severe mobility impairment.
Over the last few years, the comune of Pisciotta has become increasingly attractive to vacationers. The mountain village lies within walking distance of the sea; a ca. 1 km footpath runs from the apartment to Marina with its harbor and beaches. And at Pisciotta, more than in many other places, you dive into Italian everyday life, locals there regard you more as a friend than a tourist.
When staying at Pisciotta, you do not necessarily need a car. Apartments such as La Casa nei Vicoli cannot be reached by car anyway, as they are located in the car-free center of the village. You have to look for parking outside the historic center, which might be a bit challenging above all in midsummer.
Several supermarkets and greengrocers are found in Pisciotta's piazza, there is also a regular weekly market, bars, ice cream parlors and restaurants are only a few minutes' walk off.
Life takes place mainly in front of the bars and in the two village squares. Above all during low season that is where you can experience an Italy you might remember from times gone by: men playing cards, women chatting and in between boys playing football.
Nearest train station: Pisciotta-Palinuro (ca. 3 km). From there you can order an Ape-taxi to Pisciotta.
