Spacious living within historic walls - your holiday apartment in the Cilento

It is in a former church, which dates back to the 12th century and where, until the beginning of the 19th century, the bishop of Pisciotta celebrated workday masses, that family De Bellis’ holiday apartment Casa Marida waits to welcome you.

The historic building is found right in the car-free, medieval center, somewhat below today’s village church and in wonderful panoramic hillside location.

The two balconies of the holiday apartment open upon a gorgeous panoramic view across Pisciotta’s terracotta-colored rooftops and the silvery-green olive groves as far as the sea and the Cape of Palinuro. Inside Casa Marida, rooms more than 4 m in height and 100 m² of living space provide for a sense of spaciousness.  

Authentic, Southern-Italian village life in the alleys of Pisciotta

The holiday apartment includes a spacious living room with dining area, couch, Sat-TV (with English channels) and access of a French balcony, an eat-in kitchen with fitted kitchen units, two large bedrooms and a bathroom.

One of the two bedrooms is furnished with a double bed; there is also an infant bed in this room. The second bedroom, which is a pass-through room, is furnished with two single beds, which can be rearranged to form a double bed or converted into a small sofa.

This room offers access of the south-facing balcony, where you can enjoy your meals, a glass of wine or an aperitif in the shade of a parasol and at the same time an unobstructed view of the sea and the Cape of Palinuro.

Furnishing of the kitchen includes a refrigerator with freezer compartment, a gas stove and an oven as well as dining furniture. Apart from the sink there is a basin for small in-between laundry.

From the kitchen you enter the bathroom of Casa Marida, which is equipped with masonry shower cabin, WC, bidet and a washing machine.

Fascinating Pisciotta - non-touristy and as if from another time

Should you be at Pisciotta for the first time, you might get the impression that time there seems to have been standing still. That makes for the special charm of the small mountain village, which yet, year-round, displays an 'active' village life and a sense of togetherness you can almost touch.  

At the village and only ca. 150 – 200 m from Casa Marida, you find whatever you need during your holidays: small grocery stores, a piazza with bars, ristoranti, pizzeria and newsstand, a greengrocer’s, a store selling local fish specialties (Alici di Menaica), a car, bike and scooter rental.

The family of your host Rosangela has been producing olive oil from the Pisciotta olive for years and a small bottle of this local olive oil awaits you as a hello and welcome gift. The olive groves are located right before your eyes - you need only take a look from the balcony.

Bathing holidays

The beach of Marina di Pisciotta is at a walking distance of ca. 1 km along a footpath (partly steps); by car it takes you only a few minutes to get there. The beaches of the Marina are without service. You can, however, rent sunbeds and parasols onsite by the day and decide on 'your`nicest spot at long Acqua Bianca beach.

A boat tour on the crystal clear waters of the sea along Pisciotta's unspoilt and wild-romantic coastline is a very special (bathing) experience. Two boat rentals are found at the harbor of the Marina; a boat license is not necessary for the small motor boats. Do not forget to take along your camera to capture the beauties of the coastal landscape.

From Marina di Pisciotta organized boat tours with local fishermen, also found at the harbor, take you to the sea grottos of Capo Palinuro and of maritime wildlife park Infreschi.

Way of traveling and parking

Should you be traveling and arriving by car: public parking spaces are found on the edge of the village center, about 200 - 300 m from Casa Marida. The nearest parking is the parking garage before you reach Piazza Pinto. More parking spaces are found outside the village center.

If you want to get around a bit between the Marina, the train station and Pisciotta, you could take the Ape-taxi (max. 3 persons) of Signor Nello. A ride from Pisciotta to Pisciotta train station, for example, amounts to ca. € 8 per person (April 2021).
