It is a hot day in late summer when we step onto the large balcony of Casa Morgana for the first time. Capo Palinuro stretches out in all its perfection before our eyes. The harbor of Palinuro, the long sandy beaches along the coast and even the sea on the other side of the cape are visible from here. It is such a dream of a panorama that it puts you in the mood for holidays.
This heavenly view is accompanied by the soothing fragrance of Mediterranean macchia which surrounds this privately located house above Palinuro. In the 1930s, necropolises dating from the 6th century BC were found nearby. The area was then declared Parco Archeologico Tempa della Guardia. Idyllic hiking trails run from here to the tip of Capo Palinuro, where the remains of a Saracen tower keep watch above and over the turquoise colored sea.
Long, fine sandy beaches stretch out to both sides. In no time, after a 500 m walk, we arrive at lovely, sandy Ficocella beach, where the waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea come rolling gently towards us.
An outdoor staircase takes you to Casa Morgana, which is located on the first floor of a multifamily residence. It includes two bedrooms, a double and a twin, a bathroom, a guest WC, an eat-in kitchen and a small living room with sofa and Sat-TV (Sky decoder).
The eat-in kitchen is equipped with 4-burner gas stove, oven as well as refrigerator with freezer compartment. Due to the French window and a large window, the room appears bright and cozy. The next room is the living room. In case TV programs are too boring, you can watch what is going on at the harbor of Palinuro from here.
The bathroom is equipped with shower cabin, WC and bidet.
The heart of Casa Morgana is surely the balcony which runs the length of the apartment. You can easily spend hours on end here, under the large sun shade. The magnificent setting of coast and sea 'accompanies' you all day long making holidays under the southern Italian sun a pure delight.
Casa Morgana also includes free WiFi, a washing machine, an outdoor shower (for shared use), gas heating and fly screens.
Parking is available on the fenced premises.
Palinuro still is the central pivot of the Cilento and has lost little of its 1950s charm. The most popular destinations of the area are quickly reached from here. Moreover, many of the town’s shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores are open year-round. They are only about 400 m from Casa Morgana.
Passionate bathing vacationers will feel to be in paradise, too. Capo Palinuro itself is surrounded by a large number of bays and beaches, which are partly only accessible by boat and which carry charming names like Baia del Buondormire – bay of good sleep. North of the cape, visible even in the distance from Casa Morgana, fine sandy beaches line up one after the other. Beach enthusiasts are sure to be spoilt for choice here.
Should you spend your holidays at Palinuro, don’t miss out on a boat trip to the grottos of the cape. Fishermen take you out in wooden boats. First you stop by „Grotta Azzurra“, which is no less fascinating than its namesake on Capri. Then the tour round the cape continues, for which you should count about 1 hour. At the harbor bar, you might afterwards savor a refreshing Aperol-Spritz, watch the bustling for a while and enjoy the beauty of this place and this moment.
