To enjoy wonderful holidays you more often than not do not need so much: a cozy ambience, a cozy terrace, the sea and an old fishing village in Southern Italy might be enough. Casa Polpo at the idyllic harbor of San Marco di Castellabate offers just that.
It is one of the most beautiful places in the northern part of the Cilento National Park. Framed by marine reserve Punta Licosa and UNESCO World Heritage listed Castellabate, it is a place where you can completely unwind, especially in early and late summer.
You enter the lovely holiday apartment into the live-and-eat-in kitchen with a kitchenette highlighted by colorful wall tiles. This room lets you into the bathroom with shower cabin and into the bedroom, which is furnished with a double bed and opens onto a wonderful view of the sea. What catches your eye are the lovingly chosen details linked with and characteristic of life by the sea, e.g. the bedroom lighting.
Furnishing of the live-and-eat-in kitchen includes a table and two chairs, a sofa for two, a coffee machine, a gas stove with oven, a refrigertor with freezer compartment. The room opens onto the furnished sea view terrace, from where you see Punta Tresino, which separates the comunes of Castellabate and Agropoli, jutting out into the sea.
Casa Polpo also features WiFi, washing machine and air conditioning. Should you be arriving by car, you can either use the reserved parking ca. 150 m from the accommodation (please specify before starting on your journey) or park in one of the public parking spaces (chargeable) at the holiday home.
San Marco di Castellabate is popular with Italian guests above all for its sea and the beautiful beaches between Punta Tresino and Punta Licosa. Thalasso Spa only ca. 50 m from Casa Polpo attracts many visitors, too.
The area around Castellabate is, however, also great for activity holidays - be it hiking, cycling, diving or snorkeling. Easy hiking tours take you along the seaside. On a Sunday morning, you might, for example, go on a tour which takes you through the pine woods of Punta Licosa to neighboring Ogliastro Marina. There you could stop at Hotel-Ristorante Da Carmine for lunch and then return to San Marco in the early afternoon.
If you want to rent a bike or even a boat, stop at Antares '91 at neighboring Santa Maria di Castellabate. There is no better and nicer way of discovering and exploring the 'Siren's island' of Punta Licosa.
What else there is to discover in the northern Cilento: unbelievably good food! That does not only go for the local restaurants, which lie so-to-speak in front of your door, but also for small family enterprises specialized in the production of traditional, local products. They include cheese dairies between Giungano and Roccadaspide, the buffalo farms around Paestum, vineyards around Agropoli, the fish business of Donatella Marino, who meanwhile produces her "Alici di Menaica" at San Marco, and many more.
Do stop by and give yourself a treat!
