A beautiful quarry stone façade and a „ tower“ in shining white characterize La Molinella, a farmhouse renovated elaborately and with style in 2009. It has got a spacious, sunny terrace and harmonizes perfectly with the rolling green of the private villa park below the medieval village of Laureana Cilento.
It was the daughter of owner Raffaele who was in charge of and responsible for the ‘replanning’ of La Molinella. The young architect made a point of imbuing the impressive house and its 1,500 m² premises with an unobtrusive elegance which is reflected inside the house, too.
The location of the beautiful, 260 m² holiday home is also very appealing. Lively Agropoli and the popular bathing bay of Trentova as well as the medieval village of Torchiara with its wonderful belvedere across the sweeping landscape of the Cilento National Park are within eyeshot. It is 15 minutes by car to Castellabate, which the movie „Welcome to the South“ has made rather famous. At the feet of the lovely mountain village lie the bathing resorts of Santa Maria and San Marco di Castellabate.
Inside and out, holiday home La Molinella offers a lot of space, untroubled holidays with your whole family or with friends guaranteed. The tastefully furnished living-dining area with its inviting sofa 'corner' and two large dining tables covers the length of the ground floor. It is completed, at the far end, by a small, separate home bar, which is furnished with an unostentatious designer glass table. In the living area, the front part of the room, a semicircular picture window opens upon a view of the green slopes between Agropoli and Laureana Cilento.
Two stone arches 'separate' the living and dining areas. In former times, this part of the farmhouse was where the stock was kept and there were narrow openings for airing. During the renovation, the latter were turned into windows, which provide for even more light in the living area. There are three doors which open onto the spacious, furnished terrace.
The kitchen and a half bath are also found on the ground floor. Due to the fact that La Molinella was planned as a Bed & Breakfast, the house is furnished with a professional kitchen, which includes a large preparation surface in the middle of the room, a gas stove with oven, a dish washer, a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave and a small coffee machine (capsules).
The kitchen opens onto a small terrace with masonry grill and pizza oven at the back of the house. Take your Pizza Cilentana from the oven and savor it in the cozy and roofed seating area of the terrace.
The four bedrooms of the holiday home are found on the two upper floors, there are two bedrooms on each floor. The furnishing of the rooms is almost identical and includes a double bed and a chair bed. The original beamed ceiling of the old farmhouse provides for a very special feel-good atmosphere in the rooms. One of the bedrooms on the first floor opens onto a terrace. Two smaller panorama terraces, which are accessible from the stairway, invite you to take sunbaths or to simply relax.
Each of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. The well-tended bathrooms are nearly the same in design and lay-out: bathtub with shower device, bidet, WC, hair dryer and heating.
Further conveniences of the holiday home include air conditioning in all the rooms, free WLAN and fly screens in the bedrooms as well as in the living-dining area. Parking is available right next to the house.
Be it mountains, hiking, bathing, sea, culture or culinary highlights – La Molinella is the ideal starting point for any kind of holiday. To the south of Laureana Cilento, the area around Monte Stella, which rises up to 1,131 meters, is great for hiking.
The coast between Agropoli and San Marco di Castellabate is lined by idyllic bathing bays and fine sandy beaches. The beach closest to La Molinella is at Baia di Trentova in the southern part of Agropoli, only ca. 7 km off. The bathing bay is easily reached by car.
You can do your shopping at Agropoli, 4 km off (e.g. at supermarket Maxi Futura right on the main road). There are a lot of restaurants and bars in the lovely centro storico of Agropoli. In a stately 15th century palazzo in the medieval center of Laureana Cilento, typical and traditional Cilentan cuisine is served at Luisa Sanfelice’s hotel-restaurant Sgroi.
L’Alveare del Cilento at Laureana Cilento is a honey farm at which various kinds of organic honey and of jam are produced. The products can be bought onsite; the farm is open to shoppers in the mornings. As off the main road, the honey farm is signposted. Those who love wine should stop at Winery De Conciliis in Prignano Cilento, where the excellent wines can be tasted and bought onsite.
