The Cilento offers a whole variety of opportunities to hikers, riders and mountain bikers - no matter how ambitious you are.
For example the karstland of Monte Albumi, Monte Cervati (1,898 m, the highest mountain in Campania), Monte Sacro (monastery, restaurant) and Monte Bulgheria is just ideal for hiking. Trails in valleys and gorges (e.g. the river Calore) lead you along beautiful landscape, varied flora and fauna.
Whichever cycling tours you want to undertake - the Cilento offers them to you, be it flat country, coastal roads, small hills, old mule paths or strenuous mountain bike tours. The world famous "Giro d´Italia" often runs through this area. "For us the Cilento is much more attractive than for example Majorca." Anja Schiefenhövel and Andreas Heinbokel, amateur bikers from Hanover, Germany, explored different bicycle tours in the area of Marina di Camerota in the last years. Ask Cilentano about their proposals for tours between 62 and 146 km (in German)!
The Cilento offers opportunities for both easy and difficult day and week trips. Although the area has been a national park since 1991, hiking trails are not or only insufficiently marked. So if you love rambling off the beaten track, the Cilento will be the place for you. Cilentano will be glad to help you organise guided tours or to advise you on your individual trips. Bikes can be hired on the spot, horses are available in San Severino.
