The gorgeous hotel Villa Cheta in Acquafredda (Maratea) is an authentic example of Italian art nouveau and famous for its tradition of more than a hundred years of hospitality.
The erectors of the villa, the Marsicano family, had been famous for their hospitality, thanks to which the nobility of the times often enjoyed the privilege of being invited to the villa and tasting the excellent cuisine and selected wines. This tradition has been kept alive along the course of time and finally Villa Cheta was opened as a hotel for the growing number of guests.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the villa was taken over by the Aquadro family and thoughtfully renovated, in order to preserve the original art nouveau elements, as well as the tradition of noble hospitality and combine them with the undisturbed atmosphere of a family-run villa.
The original art nouveau glass windows, the playful ornaments on the antique rose/cream-coloured facade, the floral crown chandeliers and the furniture of that era can still be admired today.
Each guest room is individually furnished with expensive fabrics, laces, antique mirrors and period furniture, with view to the sea or the garden. Some of the rooms also have a balcony or terrace.
The standard equipment includes: satellite TV (with German and English channels), air condition, safe, mini bar, hairdryer.
The restaurant, lovingly tended centrepiece of the hotel, attends on the guest with an uncomplicated, but sophisticated cuisine, which focuses its attention upon the Lucanian region. The rich wine list comprises not only selected international wines but also a wide range of excellent Southern Italian ones.
On the terraces below abundant bougainvilleas and exotic trees, with a splendid view upon the sea the guests can enjoy the delicatessen with all their senses.
The hotel Villa Cheta is enthroned on the foothills of a promontory, with a panoramic view upon the Tyrrhenian Sea and over slopes covered by pine trees in the back of the building.
Within a few minutes you reach via a stairway the Spiaggia di Porticello at the feet of the hotel or one of the many nearby white-, rose- or black-sanded bays.
